My Process

In this section, I’ll share short posts about my creative process, the materials I use, the colors that captivate me, and the textures that intrigue me. I’ll share the inspirations that move me, the fascinations that shape my art. In other words, this is a glimpse under the hood—a look into the core of my creative mind.

These books are my constant companions in the studio, guiding my process, refining my techniques, and deepening my understanding of color and human emotion. Because without meaning, without emotion, there is no good design.

I turn to them every day, first thing in the morning and before I close the studio at night. They keep me focused, silencing the inner saboteur that loves to whisper, “Why are you doing this?”

And then, there’s another pile… filled with the works of designers and artists who inspire me endlessly. But that’s a post for another day. What books keep you grounded in your creative process?

As I approach an age when many start thinking about retirement, the idea of stopping my creative journey is unthinkable. After nearly 30 years as a creative director, I’m not slowing down. I’m just beginning the next chapter.

This is Part 3 of my life, a bold, deliberate shift. My goal? To create unique art jewelry and art objects (objets d’art) as often as possible over the next 2,5 years. By the time I turn 60, I want to have built an entirely new career—one that will carry me forward for the next 30 years. A journey of creativity, craftsmanship, and discovery.

Art Jewelry & Art Objects because they are wearable and tangible expressions of art, each carrying a story, emotion, and identity. They bridge tradition and innovation, the personal and the universal.

With over 30 years of experience spanning graphic design, photography, scenography, ceramics, and printing, I’m bringing everything I’ve learned into this project. No limits. No boundaries. Just pure creation.

From metals and porcelain to unexpected, found materials, each art jewel and art object will have its own story, its own soul. Some will be experimental, some deeply personal, and some will surprise even me. This is more than a project. It’s a lifelong evolution. And I can’t wait to see where it leads.

A selection of my art jewels will soon be available for purchase on the new Mick + Wout online gallery, a space dedicated to experimentation, unexpected materials, and bold artistic expression.
